The 18th biennial congress of the South African Sports Medicine Association will take place in Cape Town from 11-13 October 2019. This is an ideal event for the biomechanics community to meet and interact with sports science and medicine colleagues from around the country, and the world.
The BIG will be running two workshop sessions on Friday the 11th, with the theme of “Measurements that Matter”. Session one will focus on objective measurements in clinical practice , the value of measuring the unseen, and measurement interpretation. Session two will build on this by taking a closer look at wearable sensor technologies for movement analysis.
Speakers will include Dr Yumna Albertus (UCT), Dr Benita Olivier (Wits), Dr Ranel Venter (Stellenbosch), Prof Quinette Louw (Stellenbosch), Dr Helen Bayne (UP), Dr John Cockcroft (Stellenbosch), Mr Jacques Gay (Vicon UK) and Dr Kim Duffy (Vicon UK).
